"Of the Earth" - added 13-oct-2002

This is a really nice, rather deep fic revolving around an adult Heero and Relena. It's short, taking place during one night when Heero comes to take a look at Relena's malfunctioning car. They are not involved, and have never made any move to be involved, though through some insightful and rather touching conversation it becomes clear that their lack of involvement may not be permanent.

I really enjoyed Relena's gentle insight here, and her awareness of Heero's real feelings, and her patience with him. There's a lot of hidden meaning in their conversations, though it's not innuendo. It seems that it's....almost easier for them to get some of their feelings out in the open if they can wrap them around other subjects. Very sweet.

"Heero's Proposal" - added 13-july-2003

One thing I really enjoy about Zapenstap's stories is the depth with which her Heero and Relena seem to know each other. All of the gentle teasing, masked sarcasm and witty (but not overdone) banter really helps bring the characters to life.

It's years after the war, and Heero's come to visit Relena, with the usual gentle teasing and innuendo that seems to be the norm for this particular incarnation of the two occurring. The teasing is mature, and by that I mean they do it cleverly and with thought - there's no toilet humour here. There is, however, a running joke about Heero marrying her...someday. Relena's become accustomed to Heero's jokes regarding marriage, as well as his comments regarding taking her as a lover. During this particular visit, though, something changes the way Relena responds to these jokes....

Don't let the idea of Heero with a sense of humour - particularly one dealing with sex - throw you. I know we've all seen stories where said sense of humour was blown so totally out of proportion that it ruined the story, but this fic isn't like that. It's very believable; Heero's older, he's had more life experience, he's caught on to the fact that people are attracted to other people, and he responds accordingly. It's a good thing. The interaction between the two is sweet, serious, funny and touching, and the lemon, while not graphic, is detailed in an emotionally descriptive way that is just really, really nice.

"Five Black Dresses" - added 12-april-2002

This is such a wonderful friendship story between Duo and Hilde. It's actually an AU side story to her 3x4 fic "(Getting) Physical (in) Geology" but can stand alone - you don't need to read "Getting..." to understand what's going on, but I highly recommend you do - it's very good (but not yet finished).

It's the end of their junior year in college, and Duo is feeling betrayed by Hilde, who is moving out of the country to continue her education. They've been best friends since junior high, and despite the fact that Duo's now in a relationship with Heero and is quite happy, he's having a really hard time letting go of the girl he loves like a sister.

As he's packing for the summer, he comes across 5 black dresses in the back of his closet, and begins to reminisce about them, and what Hilde meant to him at the points in their lives that she wore those dresses....

I think what really gets me in here is a comment Duo makes about growing up, and a comment Hilde makes about getting away. I've had similar thoughts myself, and could actually feel the pain they were feeling. Made me rather misty-eyed, actually....

"Sunrise" - added 31-march-2002

This is a great story.  It's set during and just after the battle where Quatre meets Trowa.  A Maguanac narrates what he's seeing, giving his thoughts on the situation, on Quatre and what Quatre thinks of Trowa, and on Trowa himself.  The writing is serious and almost poetic in spots - while there isn't much I can say about the plot, as it just recounts a part of the show, it's how the story is recounted that makes this so good.
