Wait! Don't run off screaming at the pairing!
*snatches reader by the collar and hauls them back*. It's
a great fic, I swear. I almost passed this one by on the
GWA boards, I'm not entirely certain why I didn't. Threesomes
in general don't do much for me, they're hard to swallow
most times - no pun intended. This story, however, is a
threesome fic with class.
Duo and Quatre are on a mission together
staking out an Oz compound when they see Relena being taken
from the facility as a captive. Without giving away plot,
they eventually rescue her and discover she's been given
a drug that is similar to an aphrodisiac. Ah ah...don't
leave just yet. I know, aphrodisiacs are usually used in
parodies and PWP's, but this story is neither. The long
and the short of it is that Duo and Quatre sleep with Relena.
A bit about characterization - everyone
is very in character. Relena is mature and able to give
as good as she gets in playful banter with Duo, but she's
also a teenager in a rather bad predicament who is scared
and tired and hurting, and who reacts accordingly. Okaasan
handles this very well, giving Relena a very believable
persona. Add to that Relena discovering as the fic progresses
that she's a yaoi fangirl, and it's all good. ~__^
Duo...he may come off in parts as a playboy,
but there are numerous times throughout the story where
it's shown that he does have a tender and very caring heart,
as well as more maturity than any boy his age should need
to posses. In spots he needs to comfort both Relena and
Quatre, and he does so lovingly and with sensitivity that
adds a lot of emotional depth to the story.
Quatre - he isn't focused on as much as
the other two, but he's not the pansy so many fics portray
him as. Right from the get-go Okaasan makes it clear that
he is a Gundam Pilot - he's stealthy, he can fight, and
he will kill if he has to. He won't like it, but
neither will he hesitate to do it if the situation warrants
it. He's also sexy as hell, particularly in one part where
he reaches behind his head to pull his shirt off. For some
reason I really like when guys do that. *rowr* Despite
all this, he's still very much Quatre - unsure in sex and
requiring some encouragement from Duo to participate in
the goings-on, yet meeting the challenge head on - no pun
intended there, either *smirk*.
The ending is rather melancholy and made
my heart ache a bit, but it was the perfect ending to the
story. Duo's reaction was right on, and Okaasan left in
the possibility for a continuation of the storyline, though
she doesn't think she'll continue it.
Oh - and if anyone's curious as to who
the third pilot Relena mentions in one part of the fic
is - Okaasan says on the GWA
boards. You'll have to go searching to find out - I'm
not telling ~__^.
