"Dead Man's Hill" - added 14-april-2002

An AU of Trowa and Quatre discovering and admitting to their feelings for each other. Things don't go quite as they planned, however, when their parents discover their secret . Years of being forcefully separated cannot keep them apart forever, though.

This story is a bit different in that a large part of it is straight dialogue - very little scene building occurs. It works well, though, and comes to a bittersweet but satisfying ending.

Jana

Jana's another one of those authors who, in my opinion at least, simply can't write a bad fic.  I suggest reading all her stuff, I chose to rec this one, though, because it's my favorite.

After being together for several years, Duo convinces Heero to take a vacation camping.  This is more a story that follows their day-to-day lives than actually following a plot.  The intro is a bit different in tone than the fic itself...to me in the intro Duo seems like he's the age he is in the series, going by his actions and his speech patterns.  Once you get to the main of the story, though, he seems to have matured into a more serious adult, and that I like.  Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of humor, but there's a lot of introspection and sap as well.  It's very obvious throughout that the two really love each other. 

There is a lot of hot sex in here, too, and in some rather interesting circumstances.

Jenn Abiding

"The Need to Give Such Secrets Away" - added 14-oct-2004

A game the boys play has a few unconsidered consequences. It's a fairly short piece, so I can't really give much of an intro. There's nice Duo and Quatre friendship/interaction, a very strongly felt 3x4 lime, and my guilty pleasure, some masturbation where someone watches. None of it's tacky, it all fits in the context of the fic, short as it is.

Jenn's style of writing is a bit different from what you normally see in fanfiction. I'm not entirely sure just what I'd call it; very emotive, but she uses words and phrases differently - combines them, truncates sentences in spots that would normally sound awkward, but instead add that much more to the feel of the story.

"Share and Share Alike" - added 04-dec-2004

Relena invites Heero to live with her, and to her consternation, Hilde and Duo tag along. At first, Relena's put off by her additional guests, but a remark from Heero has her reevaluating her thoughts on the two from L2.

This isn't the orgy the pairings warning makes it sound like, rather it's a bit sweet with some snark thrown in at the beginning. When I first started reading, I was afraid the story was going to be yet one more fanon Relena portrayal. While the girl starts out a bit rough around the edges, though, she quickly grows into someone much more accepting - more like the canon Rel you don't see very often in fic.

Jupiter Strahan

The Appreciation Arc - added 22-feb-2003

This is an ongoing group of short stories based on days in the lives of Heero and Duo. In each story, they learn a bit more about each other, themselves, and what it means to have the other as a friend.

These are very sweet stories, they never fail to leave me with warm fuzzies when I read them. Jupiter's told me she's planning to do more, so feel free to prod her with a fic poking stick should you feel so inclined.
